A continuation of what was started in 2022. The church has a reputation of being friendly and welcoming which is significant. However, our church community is diverse, and we seek to increase the cross-pollination / friendship across these groups
The goals:
- To increase the participation of current attendees, and to grow relationships within the church family. To share Jesus’s love, in showing our care for one another. To encourage an invitational attitude, and comfortably challenge attendees to invite others to attend a St Pauls service or event.
- To support those in need within the local Frankston community by preparing food that can be shared.
Opportunities to date:
- Wednesday soup making group in support of Winter Shelter : Weekly throughout May / September.
- The need in the community has not diminished post winter and the “prep and share” team is now making nutritious fried rice each week which is shared with the Peninsula City Church Pantry and Lifegate Frankston.
Outcomes:
- The Wednesday “prep and share” has provided an opportunity for people to come together and share life as they do food preparation. The sense of purpose, and being involved in a small but practical manner, for a manageable amount of time, has been a successful venture. Everyone has felt a sense of commitment to the project, and one another. Sharing and getting to know each other has been very tangible.
- Communal Prayer for the recipients of the food, and for the challenges currently faced by the “prep and share” team has been a new experience for some. Sharing in prayer for one another has been a blessing.
- In order to sustain this initiative, we have been blessed by ongoing support of the couple who donate all the containers and disposable gloves, cash donations from people external to the church and produce from our church family.
- The Wednesday team is flexible and welcoming of all who would like to help between 1200 – 1345 weekly.
- I would like to acknowledge the regular participants without who this could not continue. Thank you 😊
- We have shared over 500 boxes of soup or fried rice since May 2023.
- Peninsula City Church and Lifegate are very appreciative of this support.
- The individuals involved stated that they enjoyed having a task that showed they cared for the vulnerable.
